READ TO YOUR KIDS!

Few things in life are more fun and rewarding than curling up on the couch with your kids and a good book. If you truly want your kids to learn to read well, then READ TO THEM EVERY DAY! There is no better way to teach your kids that reading is fun and interesting.

Featured here is the book that we are reading to our children right now.
Dibs: In Search of Self Dibs: In Search of Self by Viginia M. Axline

It is not often that I would read a book like this to my children. This book is often used as an assignment in psychology classes, but that's not where I first read it. My mother gave this book to me some time ago, and I have always loved it. I relate in a lot of ways to Dibs. I was very shy when I was younger, and I often "hung out on the edge of things" to figure out what was going on. I was not severely disfunctional like Dibs, but I still relate in many ways. This is a heartwarming story, and the kids really enjoy it so far.
We just finished through chapter 7 (June 1, 2009). Check back often to see our progress.
